Paul Williams is a 23 year old freelance artist in the UK.

Mr Williams is no stranger to the world of webzines as he worked extensively with several over the past few years. Now he focuses his efforts on comic art and is producing a monthly strip called Violet which appears in an American publication called Racket.

Dark Side Of The Moon

Originally drawn by hand, Dark Side of The Moon is Paul Williams's artistic interpretation of what is seen and unseen in the world. Influenced by author Graham Hancock and nature programs featuring David Attenborough, Williams culminates two distinct personal interests in this piece; taking his cave-dwelling-inspired vision and combining it with the conceptual undiscovered world. He gives us a fascinating, color-laden, intensely detailed piece which gives pause for thought on what lies beneath the external views of the art we see.

Circuitscape

Science-Fiction has given many ideas to artists over the years. Paul Williams has taken the concept of artificial reality and given it an artist's twist. This digital depiction begs to ask us to question our own reality. In our rural sprawls are we really living in a natural environment, or are we simply the tiny specs on the circuit board of a higher force's machine of creation?

Living Universe

Living Universe takes the opposite approach to Circuitscape and expands the concept to include that outside our limited scope. Instead of our lives and world being of an artificial nature, we are forced to see the nurturing aspect of our world as being that of a more maternal force. Mother Nature expands to encompass the universe.
Originally a pencil piece, Williams took the original concept to his laptop to give it color and texture. The combination gives us a striking concept piece that could leave us pondering all the varying views of creation.

Something Wicked

Perhaps the most poignant piece in the series is Something Wicked. This digital piece, Williams told us, was created amid the public fears of the H5N1 virus "jumping" to humans. Attempting to give some light to the situation without being flippant, Williams uses bold colors and gives some inspirational credit to Terry Gilliam of Monty Python for the hands. Skulls, lurking shadows of fear, and the attention to details give this piece a very haunting feel. Perhaps Williams gave the best summation with a Shakespearean quote:

"…by the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes" – Macbeth
